Telestream Showcases Advanced File-based Video Transcoding, Workflow Automation & Quality Control at Inter BEE 2016

Strategic new Vantage features and options for Japanese market offer greater control and efficiency in file-based workflows

Nevada City, Calif., November 9, 2016 – At Inter BEE 2016, Telestream®, a leading provider of digital media tools and workflow solutions, will team up with local channel partners – ASK and Totsu International (stand 8505), Photron (stand 4405) and Itochu Cable Systems (stand 5416). Together, the companies will showcase a number of strategic advances in file-based quality control (QC) services and video subtitling capabilities found within the company’s Vantage® media processing and workflow automation platform that are specifically targeted at the Japanese broadcast market.

Following Telestream’s acquisition this summer of leading file-based QC solution provider, Vidcheck, this summer, the company will showcase its Vidchecker solution, including developments that target Japanese broadcasters and content creators. A key feature of Vidchecker is its detection and correction capabilities of Photo Sensitive Epilepsy (PSE) triggers such as flashing and patterns. Initially, Vidchecker has been developed to comply with the UK-based OfCom (ITU) PSE specifications regarding psycho-visual sensitivity. This standard overlaps with the relevant Japanese standard and Vidchecker complies with the strictest levels of this Japanese standard. Telestream will introduce a version of Vidchecker that is specifically focused on the Japanese market in 2017.

Another key focus for Telestream at Inter BEE is Japanese language subtitling for broadcast and OTT delivery – recognized as one of the biggest challenges for international broadcast technology vendors because of the unusual requirements of the Japanese language. With the support of ASK, Photron and ICS, Telestream will showcase its subtitle automation system, Vantage Timed Text Flip, which provides subtitle overlay support for standard Japanese subtitling formatting including vertical and ruby text.  In addition, Timed Text Flip also supports subtitling for Latin-based languages (English, Spanish) together with Chinese, Korean, Cyrillic, Arabic, Greek, Hebrew, and more languages. It increases subtitling process automation whilst still enabling the right level of human interaction in any application.

“With dedicated local sales and support teams, the APAC region is a rapidly evolving market for Telestream: Inter BEE provides us with a valuable opportunity to showcase our system solutions to new and existing customers across Japan,” commented Paul Turner, Vice President of Enterprise Product Management at Telestream. “PSE detection & correction and Japanese language subtitle systems are two big challenges that are beyond many vendors. They illustrate our commitment to serve broadcasters and content creators throughout Japan with cutting edge workflow automation capabilities that address this market’s new business challenges.”
